Entomophagy

another tasty beetle yummy beetles

roasted crickets anyone?
or perhaps some BBQ worm crisps ?

the FDA says
we are already consuming a healthy dose of insects
not to mention a whole lot of rodent hair
and other animal condiments.
for instance
frozen broccoli is listed as follows:
_DEFECT SOURCE: Pre-harvest insect infestation
SIGNIFICANCE: Aesthetic”_

a small portion of aphids?
I dare say that its more than an aesthetic flaw

regardless of the nutritional arguements
culturally
we portray anyone that eats bugs as being in a state of highly questionable sanity
renfield for instance,
former legal / financial counselor turned bug eater / Dracula’s bitch boy…
eat bugs? = obviously insane
a dominant western idea, yes
but one from the looks of it that appears to be shifting

nutritional and aesthetic concerns aside
the upside of bug eating
aside from potentially winning an episode of fear factor
is that when the first shades of “the apocalypse” arise and the plagues of insects start swarming the countryside…
free food.

as a vegetarian
the idea of eating insects creates a grey area
perhaps not a grey area
as yet another dietary distinction

one that eats specifically outside the animal kingdom?
or
one that does not eat anything that has legs, eyes, a face, or teeth for that matter?

but seeing as how insects are refered to as microlivestock that it pretty much decides it for me
