mixing hell
so now that the fun part is over
[the making of the music for the record]
now comes the part that sucks
the mixing
this time out im taking a multi track approach
which is probably not the greatest idea
but i want the mastering to go as painless as possible for twerk
which means only one thing
multi-track
thank god reaper exists in its current free state
otherwise id be doomed to rendering each of the 14 tracks after each minor adjustment
which is alot of guess work
and a greater amount of wasted time
however
because there is not a decent implementation of a generic control surface for reaper just yet…
i decided, after a quick look at which control surfaces were supported in reaper and a subsequent jaunt around the internets,
to make one that suited my needs
enter tablet2midi
[the true switchblade screwdriving wrench of my studio]
out of the possible control surfaces [Behringer BCF2000 and Mackie MCU] the only one i figured i could get a proper map for was the behringer
if they [behringer] were smart, they would have a retarded gui programing thing like the m-audio stuff
making it easier to manage presets and send sysex to the hardware from the gui
sure enough
they did
so after much toil, tinkering and testing.
problem solved
heres a screen

update
it occured to me this evening
that perhaps i shoud mention that the four buttons at the bottom are play stop scroll fwd and scroll back
ive changed the bottom two into pressure based buttons for ease of use.
oh and the xy’s dont really serve a purpose yet
but im working on that…
end update
now
if anyone wants this beast for thier own
and already has a full version of tablet 2 midi
here it is

enjoy
