now before the blood thirsty wp mob hunts me down and tries to murder me in my sleep
let me just say…

as a front end web UI developer i’ve had force my nicely written and commented markup into a few cms’.

you could say i’ve been around the block

a few times over

heres an excerpt from my daily conversation with wordpress…

how many times do i need jquery to load?
for every plugin? sure why not!

how may styles sheets do i need?
how bout twelve? great bring it… the longer it takes my page to load… the better

on and wait you want to put posts into pages? and pages into posts? sounds like you need another plugin… (whats the difference anyway?)

and about that fancy navigation trick you like to do?
sorry no dice. the core says have to use “page-item page-item-id666”

yes
wordpress has a nice pretty userfriendly (click heavy) admin side
yes giving a client a WYSIWYG editor is the beesknees

i’m sure if i wanted to use just the core as a jumping off point
for all the php i’ll have to learn to write for it
i bet it would be great
but i’m lazy
and 1/4 web developer

and

invasive markup makes me want to die.

I’m two chapters in
which covers burnplate
and about half of negativ

oh and soon
i will set upon the world
my little ambient record
(the interperative dance version of the darker still ep)

I’ll leak it to last.fm when i’ve got the track order and a name for the damned thing

also
i came into posession of a tabletpc recently
to use for the sole purpose of playing live with
(mice are gay)
and while the whole pc keyboard/controller setup is nice
i found i ultimately ignore the trigger finger when playing live
even though i’ve got the thing CC mapped for everything

i have no idea when i’ll be playing another live show
and i doubt it will be soon
but that just gives me plenty of time to get used to playing with a pen and a controller which I’ll ignore i’m sure

which brings me to
the painting portion of this here dialog
tablet pc + artrage (the best 25$ i’ve spent on software in awhile)
is awesome
if you like to paint and have a wacom or a tabletpc
buy it
