the first batch of studio notes

this may be completely pompous of me
but….
i enjoy looking at other peoples frantic unintelligble scratches on paper
notes
doodles
whatever
so i consider it an open door into how a person ticks

with that in mind
ive decided to let loose with the scanner
and post some of the notes ive made while while writing
the record

which has proved to be a rather daunting task
because of the staggering amount of controller data ive decided to take on this time around.
if you’ve been paying attention
you know im controller crazy
i loathe the concept of the mouse
its outdated and clumsy
[coincidentally this is how i feel about the consumption of meat and dairy]
i do however love my wacom tablet
my shuttle express
my igesture pad
my m-audio trigger finger
my evolution mk249c im not so hot on
but it gets the job done
so yeah
bit heavy on the alternate input device tip

now that ive cleared that up
let me say
that when you work for a living
you dont have time to make music as much as you’d like
which means
well you need to be able to quickly jump back into your complex setups and midi assignments
and hey
im old
i forget things
like
which fader is hooked up to the delay feedback
and what CC# its assigned to
and which hardware controller its coming from
enter the blank sheet of paper i keep folded in half
under my keyboard
studio notes

mmm psychotic goodness

once i finish a track or get stuck
[which is more often than not]
i render it to mp3
load it into itunes
stream it across the lan
to the media center[soon to be tvr] in the living room
yay for itunes shared libraries and living room computers

i give the track a good listen
[assuming alyssa is not actively watching the tv]
and make more notes
studio_notes2
i do this for two reasons

next time
i plan on going into my midi work arounds in FLstudio
